MEL KOHAN, M.D.

Mel Kohan M.D. has been practicing in South Florida since 1986. He received his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico. He completed is internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital-University of Connecticut. He subsequently completed his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. He was Acting Director for the HIV Broward County Public Health Unit. Dr. Kohan opened his private practice in Infectious Disease in 1989 in Coral Springs, Fl. Dr. Kohan is a consulting physician at Broward Health North, Broward Health Coral Springs, Broward Health Imperial Point, and Northwest Medical Center.

Dr. Kohan enjoys spending time with his family and all the outdoor activities Florida provides.  

HAMED KOMAIHA, M.D.

has been practicing clinical Infectious Disease since June 1995. He Joined IDC in 1998. He is a graduate from Mansoura University in Egypt. He completed his residency and training from St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital in New York, NY. He completed his fellowship in Infectious Diseases from UC-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. Dr. Komaiha is a consulting physician at Broward Health North, Broward Health Coral Springs, Broward Health Imperial Point, and Northwest Medical Center.

In his spare time, Dr. Komaiha enjoys spending time with family and gardening.

INDULEKHA N. GOPAL, M.D., FACP

is an infectious disease expert who has been practicing medicine for 25 years around the world. She has been educated at top universities including Duke University and the University of Tennessee. Dr. Gopal has been well recognized as part of the South Florida medical community for the past 15 years. She is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. She is one of the leaders of medical staff at Broward Health North. She is a consultant physician at Broward Health Coral Springs, Broward Health Imperial Point and Northwest Medical Center.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and watching movies and listening to music.

GENEVIEVE A. JOHN, M.D.

has been practicing clinical Infectious Diseases since September 2001. She graduated from St. George University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. She completed her medical residency and fellowship from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. She is a consultant physician at Broward Health Coral Springs, Broward Health Imperial Point and Northwest Medical Center.

JERRY (JAROSLAV) F. ONDRUSEK, M.D.

has been practicing clinical Infectious Diseases since December 1995. He Joined IDC in 1995. He is a graduate of the University of Jan Evangelist Purkinje Medical School in Brno, Czechoslovakia. He completed his medical internship at Marshall University and his Infectious Disease Fellowship at the University of Arizona. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. Dr. Ondrusek is a consulting physician at Broward Health North, Broward Health Coral Springs, Broward Health Imperial Point, and Northwest Medical Center.

In his spare time, Dr. Ondrusek enjoys hiking, swimming, music, art, and spending time with his family.

sara buchstein, m.d.

has been practicing clinical Infectious Diseases since 1986. She received her B.S. in Biology from SUNY Stony Brook in Stony Brook, New York and M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Dr. Buchstein completed post-doctoral research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. She realized life as a lab rat was not for her and went to The University of Miami Ph.D.- MD program and received her medical degree in 1986 after two years of intense and disciplined insanity.

Life outside of work is spent in devotion to her two feline overlords Sirius and Myra.
